How ePTFE Waterproof Breathable Membrane Works

Expanded PTFE (ePTFE) is created by stretching PTFE at high temperature, forming a node-and-fibril microporous structure with billions of pores per square inch. The pore size (0.1–1.0 μm) is small enough to block water droplets (20–100× larger than pores) and PM2.5 particles, yet allows air molecules (~0.0004 μm) and water vapor to diffuse through.
